Ok, so on the 4th of July we promised Jack that we would go see some fireworks. We tried several times to renegotiate with him, but he wasn't budging. Since we promised fireworks, my gosh we had to deliver. So we have a nice dinner and then head out to see if we could find a good spot to see the fireworks at the Cotton Bowl. We head on over to Flag Pole Hill and we think that we have the perfect spot. There are other families there, but it isn't too crowded. So we wait and we wait. I should have know that something wasn't right with this location when the mosquitoes starting biting me. See, mosquitoes don't bite me. They bite Mark and they devour Jack. On this night, these giant mosquitoes were feasting on me like they hadn't eaten in five minutes or something. Anyway, we start to hear some booming sounds, but we don't see any fireworks. We assume these are from one of the neighboring cities, so we stay put. All of a sudden, it is "boom, boom, boom, boom" we know that we have really messed up and Jack is going to miss the entire show. Mark headed off to higher ground with Jack and they were able to sneak in a few fireworks, but sadly not the full view. We decided it was a bust and we should head home. At the last minute Mark decided he would take us in another direction to see if he could save the day. He starts driving rather fast down the road trying to get a view White Rock Lake and all of a sudden there it was.....FIREWORKS. Tons and tons of fireworks can be seen over downtown Dallas. It is awesome. It is exactly what fireworks are supposed to look like. He whips the car around to get a good spot and it isn't just a good spot, it is the perfect spot! I unbuckle Jack from his seat so that he can see. This time we are not getting out of the car because we have all beaten eaten alive by those giant mosquitoes. So we are there, we are ready, we have full view of the fireworks and I swear he was probably interested for all of 2 minutes. He was looking around, watching the cars, talking to us. All of that work and he was interested for such a short time. You know what, even after all of that, we had a great time...even with the mosquitoes. Next time, I'll remember the bug spray.
Pictures include Jack doing what he likes to do (yell) and Julia had a great evening freezing her hand in the cooler. I had no idea that was so much fun :)
Love ya -
Amy
